A couple of weeks ago, I shared a post with you called Top 3 Tools for Making Your Social Media Account Management Easier. Whew! That was a mouthful. In this post I shared three tools with you that will help you greatly with your social media management. Today, I’d like to talk to you a little bit more about how to manage social media…especially if you are a creative business owner. The first thing you need to realize as a creative business owner is that how you grow and operate your business really differs very little from other business. The difference lies in WHAT you do, not HOW you do it.
If you were a small business owner that develops software, for example, you may still have the same responsibilities…from taking out the trash to keeping your own records to marketing your business. Most creatives, like us, however, are solopreneurs. This means it’s just us! So how do you do it all? Systems, strategies and tools!!!! This is especially important when it comes to managing social media.
One such tool for effective social media management is HootSuite. I am a HUGE fan of HootSuite, which is an internet based platform that allows you to manage, post on and interact with multiple social media accounts. The benefits of being able to do this are huge. First of all, you can plan and prepare in advance…which is especially helpful for creatives who tend to work on a deadline. If you are like most creatives, when you are in the midst of art deadlines, everything else gets put on hold….especially social media. Since having a consistent presence on social media is so important, scheduling some posts in advance becomes an advantage. Schedule posts ahead…then you can spend your time engaging with your audience.
HootSuite also allows you to manage multiple accounts all in one place. With the free version, you can add up to five accounts. This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the functions of this robust platform. Interested?
Let me just say one more thing if you are not quite convinced that you need to be using this management tool for your social media….HootSuite, overall, will save you TIME!! Imagine this for a minute….instead of having Facebook, Twitter and Google+ all opened up in separate windows…having them all open in one.
