Industrial Chic-Altered USB Lanyard

Today I'm excited to share with you how to make this Altered USB Lanyard using Susan Lenart Kazmer's new line of awesome product: Industrial Chic!  What is particularly exciting about this project is that is a part of a fabulous Blog Hop.  The hop began on August 1oth and runs through the 26th and features projects from some of the craft and hobby industry's most talented designers.  So far, there have been some fantastic projects.

Don't worry…you have missed nothing!  If you click on the blog hop button, you     can see all of the artists and projects that have been featured so far.  Also, at the     end of this post, I have included the links to all of the artist's blogs.

Now I know what some of you might be thinking…"Really Theresa? Another USB  Lanyard?"  What can I say?  I've been on a mission to get organized!  LOL  I have  several USB drives and each is organized with different information.  So, telling      them apart can be kinda tricky sometimes.  So when I got my package of products  from Susan Lenart Kazmer's Industrial Chic line, I knew right away what I was        going to make.  Plus I was really fortunate because, he he, I had already invaded    Michaels and had formed a small stash of Industrial Chic products.  This is truly the coolest, most inspiring line I have seen in a long time.  If you are a mixed media or paper artist, you will want to get to Michaels right away and load up on these crafty goodies.

I always get very excited when I get a package at my studio.  Whether they are expected or not, I love my Fed Ex guy!  Sound silly?  Perhaps…but I'm as giddy as little girl, none-the-less.  I'm not embarrassed or afraid to admit it.  So, I was reeeeeeeally excited to receive my package of Industrial Chic supplies.  It might not look like very much, but lemme tell ya…this is one incredible rich line of goods.  Here's what I got:

I saw that chain and I knew right away what I was going to do with it.  As luck would have it, I already had in my stash Industrial Chic jump rings and clasps.

This is a very simple project to do.  I whipped out my chain nose pliers and as fast as you could say, "That looks so cool!"  I had it all assembled.

When I saw the package with the small envelops and collage papers, I knew it would make the perfect vehicle for storing my supply of USB drives.

I glued the small pieces of collage papers to the front side and flap of the envelope, trimmed the excess and added stickers to properly label it.

Now I easily identify my USB drives.

That's all there is to it!  Quick and easy….and a great way to organize items that are small.  I like that.

Here is a list of all the other designers who are participating in this hop…

I drool over the pieces in the Industrial Chic line.   This is a great idea for your USBs.

  12. Bren Herrera says:

Great idea. What are the dimensions of the envelope?? Is it big enough for just 1 drive? Thanks!

    • Theresa says:

Hi Bren….I am actually travelling, so I don’t have the envelope with me to give you exact dimensions. If you would email me to remind me, I am happy to provide it for you. However…it is very small and really only has enough room for one drive. Hope that helps.
