The power of mindset can bring both great success and great failure. Are you getting in your way? Or are you empowering yourself? I can tell you this most certainly…you are the one who is in control of your own destiny and ONLY you decide your level of success. The state of the economy, your competition, lack of time, household chores, etc. are not what prevent you from moving forward in your business.
I speak to you sincerely from experience. I have made every excuse to explain away my own lack of success. I shared that experience with you in my post Being Confident. It wasn't until I realized a very important truth….thoughts are things. I sincerely believe this….we become and we are what we think about most. I could not explain this better than Susan Preston does in her post Your Thoughts Become Things.
Just the other day I was reading through a thread in one of my Facebook groups. The conversation was about the hottest new social media event, Social Boom, which is being hosted by social media guru, Kim Garst this September. Seriously, people are coming from all over the globe for this event! Those of us who coach with Kim are very excited to attend this event and finally meet each other face to face. One of our group-mates wrote that she was hoping to raise enough money to come to the event. Another replied that first you decide you are coming, then the money will come. Has that ever happened to you? You didn't know how you were going to afford something or find the time for something, but somehow you make it happen? That, my friend, is the power of mindset. First you make the decision! Then the path will unveil itself…at the right moment…in the right direction.
I'm not going to tell you that it is super easy to change your mindset. It is something that takes time. In the beginning, you have to be very conscious of your thoughts and make the CHOICE to change any negative ones right away…after a while, it becomes habit. You have to remove negativity from your life, let go of fear and have the right mindset to move forward in life and in business. I work towards this everyday and in doing so, I have made great strides!
How? First, decide you want great success! Say, "YES! I am ready to harness the power of mindset and make positive steps forward. NO! I will not hold myself back or get in my own way." To support you on your journey, I would like to share with you a few articles from women that I have come to respect and admire. Their knowledge and generous spirits have been inspiring to me and I would like to share their words with you. You will find a wealth of support, encouragement and action steps that you can put into place in your own life. Pick and choose what works best for you…and since you have already said YES to you…you cannot fail!

It does all start with a decision and once we know that we are at choice, it puts us in a position of personal power. : D Thanks so much for including a link to my post, Theresa, I really appreciate that. <3 <3 I really like how you point out that it isn't always easy to change your mindset…and that it can still be done. Love the post!

And am very happy that I am
I am happy that you are, too, Jan. It’s hard work sometimes, but so worth it.

Thank you so much, Theresa! This is just what I needed to read right now. I'm getting ready to start a new endeavor and I need that little extra boost of power. I'm setting aside some time this afternoon, when I'm not so rushed, to go over each of these articles. I'm also sending this link to my daughter, who is also embarking on something new. Again, thank you!!
You’re so welcome, Peggy. I am thrilled that this was helpful and inspiring. Seems like you’ve decided…now all you need is a bit of faith. I believe in you!
Hi T,
Great article! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
You’re welcome. Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for this great advice. You know I've been debating if this actual conference is the right direction for me at this time. It is so tempting with it being in my home state. And now I read this today and question if it is another 'nudge".
I think it all depends on what it is you want to do and be. If you are curious about something, then test it out. Worst case, is you’ll find it isn’t for you.
Thanks for the great post today Theresa
You’re welcome, Ericka.
Great post Theresa, thank you! I have come to realize through these last few months the power of mindset and the difference it can make and it makes a huge difference. Thank you for sharing
Glad you agree, Kerry. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
Theresa – thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience in this touching article. This is so timely and just the nudge that I need today. I believe everything happens and everyone we meet is for a reason on our journeys. Thank you
You’re welcome, Susan. I’m always happy to give a little nudge if it helps people reach their full potential.
This is so very true. Many people can't understand this simple fact and I didn't either until it became evident upon self reflection. I remember sitting down going back to the things I thought about often. It was then I realizes all my thoughts had become my reality!
Suzanne…you hit on something so important here in your comment. Self reflection! I believe that this is so difficult for some people. It is so much easier to lay blame elsewhere, but the truth is…if you truly reflect and look inward….you will find that the obstacles lie inside of you….and so does the path to break through them.
Great article!
Thanks
Having the right mind-set is very important! Another great post Theresa
Thanks, Mandy.
It's funny how powerful mindset can be, but it's true, everything begins with making a DECISION. Once we make the DECISION, then we magically find a way to make it become a reality. Great job pointing that out =)
Thank you, Edmund. You have to decide first….but you also have to have faith!
I once heard someone say Change Your Mind, Change Your Money. It's true, it all starts with how you think. Sounds simple, but it's crucial.
That is very true and, as you put, crucial. Having a positive mindset is so important to be on a upward growth.
What we believe and tell our mind surely does impact our success. Great quote, article resources and post. Thanks Theresa.
Thanks, Carol…glad to see we agree.
Mindset, what a powerful word. I'm gifted with the natural strength of positivity; what I battle against is harnessing the true power of this gift and letting it take me where it will. Love that you are utilizing the input of other peers as well as yourself to solidify the power of mindset.
Thanks for your comment, Kim. If you are battling against anything, it certainly isn’t apparent. You ARE pure sunshine…this will get you far. Just let the path unveil itself.
I am a volunteer mentor for a UK government scheme to encourage unemployed people to start a business – my speciality is arts and crafts makers. After reading your article and the comments that followed, I now realise how important positive thinking could be when running a small business. Much emphasis is rightly placed on adequate business planning and controls, but you also need to firmly believe that you can do it and succeed. I’d never really thought about positive thinking as part of small business planning, but I won’t forget it in future.
Thank you so much for your very thoughtful comment, Dennis. I am glad that I could help you see another valid point. Best of luck in your business!
Really good article Theresa. I always enjoy coming to your blog and I know I can find great content. You are a great resource and business woman. I love how you talked about this change in thinking because I truly that is exactly what changed my business development for me and I have been talking to friends about how the confidence in my passion for my business is so different now. My Mindset says there is no OTHER way of thinking when it comes to my business and making it a success. = )

Theresa – thanks for this very important article. This is pertinent today as I am on the threshold of making a life change in regards to my career. It is very helpful to hear reassurance from peers and mentors.
I really enjoyed reading this article. And I believe it to be true. The hardest part is as you've said to get your mind set in the right direction and to stop negativity from taking over. Thanks for sharing this and I'll go look at the other articles.
